Thomas H. Vance
Thomas H. Vance, age 72, of 3485 State Route 39, died Saturday afternoon in Mansfield General Hospital. He was born August 25, 1921 in Middleport, Ohio the son of Homer and Nellie (Leonard) Vance.
After moving to Shelby in 1956, Mr. Vance was employed at A.M.F. in Shelby, and then had been President of Globe Steel Abrasives in Mansfield, before retiring in 1979.
Mr. Vance attended the First United Methodist Church in Shelby and had been a member of the Shelby American Legion Post #326, Shelby Owls Club, and the Central Ohio Traffic Club. He was a former member of the Shelby Country Club and Woody Ridge Golf Course. He was a 1939 graduate of Bucyrus High School and an Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Vance is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Cox) Vance, whom he married on September 1, 1961; 2 daughters and 1 son-in-law, Susan Vance of Shelby and Linda and John Feussner of Shelby. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother Claude Vance in 1993.
Calling hours will be on Monday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jeffrey Matthews, pastor of First United Methodist Church , officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby.
Memorial expressions may be made to the charity of the donors choice and left in care of the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street in Shelby.
