Thelma K. (Karshen) Burdue
Thelma K. Burdue, age 85, of 123 Park Village, Shelby, and a former Sandusky resident, died early Monday, August 9, 1999 at Med Central Mansfield Hospital after a 7-week illness.
She was born February 20, 1914 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of the late Robert and Sarah Karshen. Mrs. Burdue was an Army veteran of WWII serving in the Nurses Corps. in the Pacific Theatre.
She retired as a registered nurse in 1984 from the Soldiers and Sailors Home in Sandusky after 25 years of service. She was a member of the VFW anq AmVets both in Sandusky. She was an avid reader.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law: Sara and Roman Miller of Shelby; 2 sons and daughters-in-law: Edward and Anita Burdue of Berlin Heights, OH and James and Patti Burdue of Seminole, FL. 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 brother: Aaron Karshen of Sacremento,
CA; a half sister, Janice Epstein of Chicago, IL. She was preceded in death by a daughter Holly Burdue and 2 brothers: Bernard and David Karshen.
Private funeral services will be held on Thursday at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby, with Rev. James Humphrey, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, officiating. Memorial expressions may be made to the Shriner’s Children Hospitals, c/o Shelby Shrine Club, P.O. Box 86, Shelby, Ohio
