Thelma I. (Pettit) Strauch
Thelma I. Strauch, age 97, of Outlook Pointe, Mansfield, and formerly of 350 West Main Street, Shelby, died Tuesday morning, June 21, 2005 at the Heritage Care Center in Shelby after a short illness.
Thelma was born March 31, 1908 in Richland County, Ohio the daughter of the late Bentley and Angeline (Lybarger) Pettit. She was a 1927 graduate of Shelby High School and was a former employee of Wilkens Air Force Depot and the Shelby Salesbook Company in Shelby. Thelma was a long time member of First United Church of Christ in Shelby where she was a former Sunday school teacher and a member of the Women’s Guild. She was also a member of the Shelby Rizpah Chapter 153 Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed playing cards.
Thelma is survived by her sister, Wanda McKinley of Outlook Pointe in Mansfield, a brother, Bentley Pettit, Jr. of Waco, Texas; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter A. Strauch in 1985 and 2 sisters, Lucy Pettit and Laura Glower.
Friends may call on Friday, June 24, 2005 from 6-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 AM with Rev. Rich Rader officiating. Eastern Star services will be at 7:45 PM Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby. Memorial expressions may be made to the First United Church of Christ.
