Thelma (Gayheart) Adams

Thelma Adams, age 87, of Shelby, died August 30, 2011 at her home.

She was born May 18, 1924 in Knott County, Kentucky the daughter of the late Edward and Laura (Gayheart) Gayheart. She was an employee of Stevens Manufacturing in Lexington for 8 years and was a member of the Elm Street Freewill Baptist Church.

Mrs. Adams is survived by her children: Virgil Adams, Jr. of Tega Cay, SC, Roger D. Adams of Troy, OH, Phyllis and Jim Brown of Galion; 7 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Luverne Ringer of Mansfield and Jewel Handshoe of Indiana; Many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband: Virgil Adams in 1985, a daughter: Geraldine Heckerd in 2006, a brother: Otis Gayheart, 2 sisters: Luna Sayler and Myrtle Adams.

Friends may call on Friday, September 2, 2011 from 5-7 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10 AM conducted by Pastor Herman Copley. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
