Tessie (Conley) Tackett
Tessie Tackett, age 79, of 38 Myers Meadows in Shelby, died Wednesday at 2:15 a.m. at the Ohio State University Hospitals in Columbus after a short illness. She was born February 25, 1915 in Salyersville, Kentucky the daughter of Elzie and Gracie (Roark) Conley.
She was a homemaker and a 60 year member of Burning Springs United Baptist Church in Salyersville, Kentucky.
She is survived by 3 sons and daughters-in-law, John and Barb Tackett of Columbus, Doug and Mary Tackett of Shelby, and Jerry K. and Janice Tackett of Mansfield; 8 daughters and 6 sons-in-law, Earnestene and Donald Cunningham of Plymouth, Gerldean Brooks , Virginia and Jan Day, Reta and Albert Hammond, Janet Sue and Paul Ryman, and Barbara Porter all of Shelby, Eloise and Richard Landis of Wadsworth, Ohio, and Sandra and Paul Kistemaker of Norwalk; 21 grandchildren; 8 step grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 10 step great grandchildren. 5 brothers, Curtis Conley of Portland, Oregon, Orville Conley, Roland Conley,and Winford Conley all of Salyersville, Kentucky, and Elzie Conley, Jr. of Marrietta, Ohio. 6 sisters, Virgie Gullett of Salyersville, Kentucky, Beatrice Bond and Hazel Crail both of Ft. Wright, Kentucky, Dorothy Teague and Ethel Mae Young both of Mason, Ohio and Vaudie Sparks of Walbridge, Ohio.
On March 31, 1933, she married Oren Tackett and he preceded her in death on March 20, 1983. She was also preceded in death by 2 infant sons, a grand daughter, her twin sister, Essie Marston, and a brother, Otis Conley.
Calling hours will be on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with Elders Joe Carroll, Buster Blanton and Ellis Smith officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Plymouth.
Memorial expressions may be made to the Burning Springs United Baptist Church and left in care of the Turner Funeral Home , 168 West Main Street in Shelby.
