Sterling E. Zehner
Sterling E. Zehner, 85, of 110 Park Village, died Wednesday afternoon at his home after an
extended illness. Born Feb. 17, 1901 in Shenandoah, he was the son of Samuel and Della (Morris) Zehner.
He retired in 1967 from Ohio Steel Tube Co. after 43 years of service. He was a member of the
First Christian Church, the Golden Agers Club, AARP, the OST Retiree’s Club, and the Loyal men and women’s class at his church.
Survivors include his wife, Irene (Reynolds) Zehner, whom he married Nov. 27, 1930; four sons: David of Dumfries, VA, Bill, Thomas, and Richard all of Shelby; 16 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; 1 brother, John Zehner, of Shelby; and one sister-in-law, Margaret Zehner of Mansfield.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, three brothers, and one grandson.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Turner Funeral Home with Rev. C. Reid Miller, his pastor, officiating. Burial wIll be in Shenandoah Cemetery, Shenandoah. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today and one hour prior to the services on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial expressions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Shelby Public Health League, or First Christian Church and left at the funeral home.
