Stephen Metzger, Sr.

Stephen Joseph Metzger, Sr., 67, of Glasgow, KY and formerly of Shelby, died Friday, December 19, 2008 at the home of his daughter, Kim, in Ooltewah, Tennessee.

He was born, May 23, 1941 in Shelby. Stephen was a graduate of Buckeye Central High School in New Washington and retired from Donnelly Printing Company after serving over 30 years. He attended St. Helens Catholic Church in Glasgow, KY and was very active in charitable works for the church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus where he had been Grand Knight, and served on the board of Crossroads Pregnancy Center in Glasgow.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Carol Ann (Eilerman) Metzger; 3 children and their spouses, Stephen Joseph, Jr. and Christy Metzger of Glasgow, KY, Joseph Allen Metzger and Penny Davis of St. Louis, MO and Kim and Chris Thomas of Ooltewah, TN; seven grandchildren; his mother, Dortha (Studer) Metzger of Shelby; 4 siblings and their spouses, Don and Marilyn Metzger of Willard, Sharon Nedolast, Robert and Jeanne Metzger and Mike and Kathy Metzger, all of Shelby; Aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, John A. Johnny Metzger in 2006.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM on Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at Most Pure of Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Shelby with Father Nick Cunningham officiating. Burial will be in Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Cemetery in Shelby.
