Stanley L. Cronenwett
Stanley L. Cronenwett, age 79, of Shelby, died Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Triumph Hospital in Mansfield.
He was born April 26, 1931 in Shelby, the son of the late Frank and Leona (Epley) Cronenwett. Stan was a 1949 graduate of Shelby High School where he excelled in football and basketball. Following graduation he served in the United States Navy. He retired as maintenance coordinator from Copperweld in Shelby after 43 years of service. He was a member of Shelby American Legion O’Brien Post #326. Stan enjoyed fishing, boating, traveling, hunting, and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Stan is survived by his children: Amy (Jim) Robinson of Shelby and Steven Cronenwett of Shelby; 3 grandsons: Jacob Robinson, Andrew Robinson, and Logan Cronenwett; a brother: Larry (Donna) Cronenwett of Plymouth. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Ruth A. Cronenwett in 2007, son: Mike Cronenwett in 1972.
Friends may call on Sunday, January 9, 2011 from 2-4 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby where funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:30 AM with Deacon Steven C. Keller officiating. Military honors will be provided by Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail. Burial will be in Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Cemetery. I am so sorry to hear your dad passed. He wasn’t a man of many words, but he definately had a sense of humor, like the snake under the toilet trick, he thought that was the funniest thing, even though poor Erica was tramatized. we will miss him very much!
