Seville “Dollie” (Wyckoff) Chew
Seville “Dollie” (Wyckoff) Chew, age 84, of 18 W. Jefferson Ave. Shelby, died Wednesday evening at Mansfield General Hospital.
She was born Jan 10, 1906 in Martins Ferry OH, the daughter of the late Isaac Newton and Emma Augusta (Vogel) Wyckoff.
Mrs. Chew was a homemaker and a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Mansfield. She was a 1924 graduate of Martins Ferry High School, a member of Jared Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution; Rizpah Chapter #178, Order of the Eastern Star, Wyckoff House and Association Inc. of New York City. She was the ninth generation straight-line descendent of her original ancestors who came to America from Holland in 1632.
She is survived by her husband, Matthew Kates Chew, whom she married on June 18, 1927. Three sons: Matthew Kenyon Chew of Scottsdale, Arizona, Robert Newton Chew and Phillip Haulman Chew, both of Shelby. One daughter, Jann Seville Chew of Indianapolis, IN. Seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 1 sister.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Shelby, by her Pastor, The Rev. Canon David S. Sipes. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Friends may call this evening (Friday) from 7-9 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home, where Eastern Star Services will be held at 7:00 p.m.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Shelby Public Health League and left at the funeral home.
