Sanford Charles Weaver
Sanford Charles Weaver, age 83, of 42 Sunset Drive, died early Sunday morning in the Crestwood Care Center after an extened illness. He was born October 7, 1904 in
Glenmont, Ohio, the son of Della (Bell) and William H. Weaver.
Mr. Weaver attended Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee and graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Before moving to Shelby in September 1940, he taught school in Holmes and Trumbull County, Ohio. Mr. Weaver taught commercial subjects at Shelby High School before becoming clerk of the Board of Education for Shelby City Schools, a post he held until retiring in 1971. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Shelby.
Mr. Weaver is survived by his wife, Frieda (Frischie) Weaver, whom he married on June 10, 1939; 1 daughter, Drs. Emerson (Sandra) Harewood of Dayton; 3 grandchildren; 1 step brother, Marcus Barnes of Wooster.
He was preceded in death by 1 brother.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Shelby with his pastor the Rev. Dr. Carl L. Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home and a 1/2 hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shelby City Schools Board of Education Scholarship Fund or the FIrst Lutheran Church and left in care of the Turner Funeral Home.
