Samuel C. Toward

Samuel C. Toward, age 78, of 15 West End Blvd., Shelby, and formerly of Oakdale, PA, died Friday evening in the Crestwood Care Center after an extended illness. He was born January 13, 1910 in McDonald, PA, the son of John and Henrietta (Smith) Toward.

Mr. Toward is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Berthold) Toward whom he married on January 18, 1942.; 1 son, Wallace Toward of Shelby; 3 granddaughters.

He was the last survivor of 13 children.

Mr. Toward was a mechanic foreman for the Pennsylvania Department of Highways. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Shelby and the Oakdale Masonic Lodge #669. He was a verean of WWII.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 8:00 P.M. at the Thomas and Little Funeral Home in Oakdale, PA. Burial will be in Robinson Run Cemetery in McDonald, PA. Calling hours will be on Monday from 1-4 and 6-8 at the Thomas and Little Funeral Home.

The Turner Funeral Home in Shelby is in charge of the local arrangements.
