Ryan Gordon Robertson
Ryan Gordon Robertson, age 43, of Shelby, died Sunday, April 4, 2010 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Knox County.
He was born October 23, 1966 in Shelby the son of Gordon and Mary Ann (Hoak) Robertson. He graduated in 1985 from Shelby Senior High and Pioneer Joint Vocational School where he specialized in welding. He was a welder fabricator and did roofing on the side with his good friend Rob Payne. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Ryan was a great cook. He enjoyed the out of doors especially arrow head hunting.
In addition to his parents of Shelby, Ryan is survived by his sister: Adrianne and Bruce Metzger of Shelby; Nephews: Cameron and Mitch Metzger; Aunt: Dianne and Hollie Kegley of Virginia; Cousins: Tyler, Jason, Matthew, Sonya, Brian and Kelly; Special Friend: Starr and her son Jack.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Adrian Bus and Betty (Wilson) Hoak; paternal grandparents: Paul and Clara Robertson and Norma (Urie) Robertson; Uncle: Scott Hoak.
Friends may call on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 from 5-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby where funeral services will be conducted on Thursday at 10 AM by Pastor Bob Taylor. After I saw you and the family yesterday, it is obvious that there is no shortage of gods love around you. I didnt know what to say then or now. I don’t know if you remember me but Ryan and I were very close friends back in high school. I’m I used to come over to meet Ryan after he got off of work at the gas station and we would go hang out at the arcade.
I live in Seattle now but lost touch with Ryan when I moved to Columbus soon after high school. I have a lot of great memories from hanging out with Ryan. The guy had a great sense of humor and had me cracking up so many times. He was hilarious. We had a lot of fun hanging out when we were kids.
I’m so, so very sorry to hear about this. It’s so awful. No words can comfort you at this time but I did want you to know that your family is in my thoughts.
