Ruth (Young) Kocher

Ruth E. Kocher, age 89, formerly of 13 West End Blvd., Shelby, died Friday, February 21, 2003 at the Ottawa County Riverview Nursing Home in Oak Harbor, Ohio.

She was born December 8, 1913 in Akron, Ohio the daughter of the late Robert and Dorotea (Starr) Young. Mrs. Kocher was a graduate of Springfield Township High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Shelby where she was active in various organizations at church, and Questers. During the school years of her children, she was very active in the Auburn School Parent Teacher Association and the Shelby High School Music Boosters. She was an excellent seamstress and had given sewing lessons at the Shelby Y for many years. She loved animals.

Ruth is survived by her 4 children and spouses, Gary S. Kocher of Toledo, Lary L. and Connie Kocher of Houston, TX, Terry Bodager-Hagedorn and Karl Hagedorn of Port Clinton, and Sherry Kocher of Oregon; 6 grandchildren; 1 great grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin C. Kocher in 1988, and 2 sisters, Edna Hackenberg and Elsa Weber.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, February, 24, 2003 at 2:00 PM at the Ottawa County Riverview Nursing Home, 8180 State Route 163, Oak Harbor, Ohio. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2003, from
11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Uniontown, Ohio. Memorial expressions may be made to the Nursing Home or the Humane Society of the donor’s choice.
