Ruth Esther (Leonhardt) Alexander

Services for Ruth Esther Alexander, 93, of 10 1/2 High School Ave. will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home by with the Rev. Ellsworth Campbell. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Plymouth. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shelby Public Health League and
left in care of the funeral home. Calling will begin Thursday at noon.
Alexander, a former resident of 87 Fourth St. in Mansfield, died Monday evening at her home after a long illness.
She was born Jan. 14, 1899, in Richland County and was the daughter of George and Minnie Leonhardt, both now deceased.
Mrs. Alexander was a housewife and a member of the First English Lutheran Church in Mansfield where she was a member for more than 50 years. She was a former member of Rebecca Lodge and Daughters of the American Revolution.
She is survived by a sister, Helen Lash of Shelby; and nephews and nieces, including Dr. Donald Lash of Shelby. She was preceded in death by her husband Leroy Alexander on Sept. 27, 1942;
three brothers, Harry, Roy and Chester Sheeley; and two sisters, Bertha Johnson and Angeline Evans.
