Russell Charles Sonny Karl

Russell Charles Sonny Karl, age 66, formerly of 29 Jayne Avenue, Shelby, died Friday, March 4, 2005 at the Heritage Care Center after a long illness.

Russ was born April 17, 1938 in Crawford County, Ohio and attended Sacred Heart School in Bethlehem as a child. He served as a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps and was a former employee of Weber’s Aircraft. Co. in California. He was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles #3054 in Issaquah, WA, and Paralyzed Veterans of America.

He is survived by a son Greg (Cheryl) Karl of Bellevue, WA; Grandchildren; 4 brothers: Joseph (Beverly) Karl and Arthur Karl of Mansfield, Ivan (Jessie) Karl of FL, George (Lisa) Olson of Uniontown, PA; 2 sisters: Bonnie (Terry) Hall and Pearl (Harold) Diller all of Shelby. Nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles F. Karl, his mother Marie Rhodes Karl Olson, Stepfather, Harold Olson, and his wife, Phyllis Cook Karl in 2001.

Friends may call on Tuesday, March 8, 2005 from 1-3 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby where funeral services will be conducted at 3 PM by Deacon Stephen C. Keller. Burial will be in Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington. Memorial expressions may be made to Shelby Home and Public Health or charity of the donor’s choice.
