Russell “Brownie” Brown

Russell “Brownie” Brown, age 93, formerly of 20 Central Avenue, died early Tuesday morning in the Crestwood Care Center. He was born August 18, 1898 in West Liberty, Ohio the son of Phillip and Elizabeth Brown.
Mr. Brown was the owner of Brown Electric and Plumbing in Shelby. He was an avid baseball fan and was the manager of the Shelby Blues Baseball Team. He was a member of the Fist Lutheran Church.
Mr. Brown is survived by 2 daughters and sons-in-law: Mary “Boots” and Harold Onie and Betty and Jim Yetzer both of Shelby; 6 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nephews, including Robert Underhill of Shelby. He was preceded in death by his wife Erma (Elliott) Brown in February of 1989 and by 1 brother and 2 sisters.
Calling hours will be on Thursday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the Turner Funersl Home where funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Steven C. Bond, Associate Pastor of
First Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby.
Memorial expressions may be made to the Athletic Department of Shelby Sr. High School and left in care of the funeral home.
