Roy J. Johnson, Sr.

Former Plymouth resident Roy J. Johnson, Sr., 92, of 193 W. Main St., died at 1:30 this morning in Shelby Memorial Hospital.

Born June 20, 1894 in Chicago, he was the son of Jonas and Bernie (Hellander) Bjornson.
Johnson was a professional engineer at the Fate-Root-Heath Co. in Plymouth for more than 30 years; a member of the Berean Bible Church, the Ohio Society of Professional Engineers and a past president of the Plymouth Board of Education. He was also an avid golfer and fisherman.

He is survived by one son, Dr. Roy J. Johnson, Jr., of Plymouth; one daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Mirian) Ansbro of Pensacola, FL; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two step- grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Miriam (Garwood) Johnson in 1982, and by one brother.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Turner Funeral Home with Rev. Ed Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Plymouth. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Plymouth Public Library and can be left at the funeral home.
