Roy E. Frew
Roy E. Frew, age 59, of Hilliard, Ohio died Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus after a short illness.
He was born Jan. 2, 1953 in Youngstown, Ohio the son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth M. (Baun) Frew. Roy was a graduate of Canfield High School and attended The Ohio State University. He retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation with over 30 years of service. Roy loved golfing, bowling and attending The Ohio State University football games.
Roy is survived by his significant other: Shannon Foley of Shelby; Brothers: Thomas (Cynthia) Frew of Coral Springs, FL and David (Susan) Ferrick of Poland, OH; Sisters: Deloris (Bob) Bagnoli of Struthers, OH, Doris (John) Pirko of Boardman, OH, Karen (Tim) Gallagher of Poland, OH; Nieces and nephews.

Some of my memories of Roy existed through the expression of love and adulation that his brother David often spoke of. I truly believe that Roy was not only his older brother, but someone that David (and we, as his friends) looked up to. It was often so cool when Roy would come back to Youngstown and we would get to see him, sometimes playing foosball…other times just a brief hello. But during ANY of those times, one thing was always clear….Roy was such a gleaming light in David’s eye. My most recent memory, and it is a great one, happened a few years ago. David (Roy’s brother), myself and few of our other friends visited Columbus to visit Ohio Stadium and do all kinds of cool things “Buckeye”. It was a GREAT moment in time for us, as a lot of us live far away, and to be together doing something like that was amazing. Roy, being the cool older brother invited all of us to stay with him while we were there. Of course, we accepted his graciousness and proceeded to some very memorable times. It is with that time, I will remember Roy…and forever, through David’s fond memories.
To all of his family, my most sincere condolences. I pray that you can find happiness in the good memories you share of Roy with your loved ones and friends. May God bless you all.

To Shannon and Roy’s Family. Roy was a super one of a kind guy. There are may of us that he bowled with and golfed with that will always remember the great times we had on the lanes or on the courses and the many good times after.
He was always with the quiet quick wit, and normally told you how it should be not how it was going to be. Roy made a few trips with us to Myrtle Beach to golf and the trip down and back was probably worth more than the golf itself.
It is just an absolute shame he had to go at such a young age. He will be an asset to the angels in Heaven.
