Roscoe A. Artz
Services for Roscoe A. Artz, 92, will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Turner Funeral Home by the Rev. Steven C. Bond, associate pastor of the First Lutheran Church in Shelby. Burial will in Oakland Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, with Masonic services at 8:30 p.m.
Mr. Artz, formerly of 59 Harriette Drive, died Monday afternoon in the Care West Care Center in Clearfield, Utah, after a long illness.
He was born May 26, 1897, in Shelby to Isaac F. and Emma J. Coover Artz. On March 3, 1920, he married Inez C. Hutt, who died: I March 10, 1989.
He was a retired foreman at the former Shelby Sales Book Co. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church, the Shelby Masonic Lodge 350 F&AM and Rizpah Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, where he was past worthy patron. He also was a member of Shelby Chapter 178 Royal Arch Masons, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Cleveland, Richland County Scottish Rite Association and the American Association of Retired Persons.
Mr. Artz in survived by two daughters: Doris Ernsberger of Roy, Utah, and Janis Hageman of Mobile, AL; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Grace Pittenger and Alma Varchman, both of Shelby.
He was preceded in death by a son, Howard, and a granddaughter, Beth Turner.
