Ronald L. Humphrey

Ronald L. Humphrey, age 61, of 21 Williams Court in Shelby, Ohio, passed away Thursday afternoon at his home. He was born August 31, 1931 in Toledo, Ohio.

Mr. Humphrey retired after 20 years of service in the United States Army serving in Korea and Vietnam. He also served as a police officer for the city of Shelby and the village of Plymouth. He was a member of the Shelby American Legion O’Brien Post #326, Rizpah Chapter Order Of the Eastern Star in Shelby and the Fraternal Order Of Police. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, Valley Of American Military, Orient Of Nato Bases.

Mr. Humphrey is survived by his wife, Cecile (Hole) Humphrey, whom he married on June 29, 1963; 3 daughters and 2 sons-in-law: Pamela and Roger Crager of Rome, Ohio; Kathy and Frank Long of Shelby; and Sonia Daugherty of Akron; 4 grandchildren; 1 brother, Ralph Humphrey of Shelby; his father and step-mother, Lauren H. and Thelma Humphrey of Bartlett, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia in 1955, and by his mother Kathleen Humphrey in 1984.

Calling hours will be on Friday from 6-9 P.M. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 A.M. with the Rev. Dr. Carl L. Johnson, Pastor of the First Lutheran Church in Shelby, officiating. Masonic services will be held Friday at 8:30 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Plymouth, where military graveside services will be conducted by the Shelby American Legion. Memorial expressions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice and left in care of the funeral home.
