Roger Vere Speece

Roger Vere Speece, age 89, of Shelby, died Monday, December 22, 2008 at Med Central Shelby Hospital after a short illness.

He was born November 4, 1919 in Montpelier, Indiana the son of the late Henry and Grace (Crosby) Speece. Roger attended Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. Roger had quite a varied working career. He began as a general manager for car dealerships in Dayton for many years and was an independent real estate agent. He moved to Las Vegas retiring as a mortgage broker.

Roger is survived by his 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert A. and Kathy Speece of Ormond Beach, Florida, Steven Speece of Dayton, Ohio; a step son and his wife, Timothy and Wanda Robinson of Shelby; 5 grandchildren, Lori Richardson and Greg Speece of Columbus, Ohio, Andrew Speece of San Francisco, California, Matthew Robinson and Brian Robinson both of Shelby; 4 great grandchildren; a brother, Jack Speece of Montpelier, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy L. (Sorrell) Robinson in 2006 and by 4 brothers, Fred, Verle, Charles, and Carroll Speece, 2 sisters, Opal Miller and Thelma Jackson.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, December 26, 2008 at 2 PM at St. John Catholic Cemetery in Montpelier.
