Rodney Leigh Yarman
Rodney Leigh Yarman, age 86, of 125 East Main Street, Shelby, died Monday afternoon, August 29, 2005 at Med Central Mansfield Hospital after a short illness.
He was born October 22, 1918 in Shelby the son of the late Clyde E. and Esther M. (Spangler) Yarman. Rodney was a 1936 graduate of Shelby High School and was a Navy Veteran of WWII. He retired in 1981 from Westinghouse in Mansfield after 33 years of service. Prior to that, he had been employed at the Shelby Cycle Company. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Shelby where he had been a former Sunday school superintendent and council member. He was a former driver of Meals on Wheels. Rodney enjoyed fishing, golfing, hunting and following the Cleveland Indians.
Mr. Yarman is survived by his wife of 65 years, Donna M. (Fair) Yarman whom he wed on December 31, 1939; a daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Dean Howerton of Shelby; a son and daughter-in-law, William D. and Donna Yarman of Ontario; 6 grandchildren and their families, Kathy and Steve Ventre of Cincinnati and their children, Corinne, Anna and Joseph; Laura and Curt Roe of Bucyrus; Greg Yarman and Michelle Manning of Columbus; Rob and Lori Howerton of Akron and their children, Emily and Elizabeth; Kelly and Kris Shaffer of Shelby and their children, Miranda and Dylan; Tracey Howerton and Mark Horn of Nashville, TN; 3 step great grandchildren, Jason, Craig, Mitchell Roe; A sister, Mary Shaffer of Shelby. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Russell, James and Allan Yarman and a great granddaughter, Erin Leigh Howerton.
Friends may call on Wednesday, August 31, 2005 from 5-8PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby where funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1PM with Rev. Steven C. Bond officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby. Memorial expressions may be made to the First Lutheran Church.
