Robert W. Hawk
Robert W. Hawk, age 89, of 50 Park Village, Shelby, died early Wednesday, May 5, 1999 at Med Central Shelby Hospital after a short illness.
He was born January 6, 1910 in Jackson Township, Richland County, Ohio the son of the late Howard and Faye (Stover) Hawk. Mr. Hawk began his working career at the Shelby Gum Company and retired in 1975 from Shelby Metal Products. After his retirement, he worked 14 years as a parking lot attendent at Peoples Federal Bank in Shelby. He was a member of A.A.R.P. and was a 70-year member of the First Presbyterian Church in Shelby where he was the financial secretary for many years and was a past elder and deacon. Mr. Hawk was an avid gardener.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law: Linda and Greg Hamilton of Fremont, Ohio; a special friend, Elsie Cobb of Shelby; 2 sisters: Eunice Davis of Shelby and Evelyn Yarman of New Port Ritchey, Florida; 2 sisters-in-law: Edith Hawk of Marion, Ohio and Dorothy Hawk of Shelby; a brother-in-law, Wade Pittenger of Mansfield; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Pittenger Hawk in 1983; by 2 brothers, Donald and Stewart Hawk; and 1 sister, Irene Danine.
Calling hours will be on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Shelby with Rev. James Smith officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby. Memorial expressions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church.
