Robert K. “Shorty” Orewiler

Robert K. “Shorty” Orewiler, age 81, of 21 Steele Avenue, Shelby, died Thursday, April 13, 2000 at Med Central Shelby Hospital after a long illness.

Mr. Orewiler was born August 21, 1918 in Richland County, Ohio, the son of Orlie O. and Sarah Jane (Cotter) Orewiler. Mr. Orewiler was a 1936 graduate of Ontario High School. On September 4, 1948 he married Marie E. (Hyler), and she preceded him in death on December 5, 1993.

He retired from the Shelby City School System as the maintance director of the bus fleet after 21 years of service. He enjoyed his family as well as gardening and fishing.

Shorty is survived by his twin sister and her husband, Ruth and Harold Strohminger of Mansfield; Many nieces and nephews also survive. He was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Charles and Donnell Orewiler.

Calling hours will be on Friday at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, from 6-8 PM and also on Saturday, one hour prior to the 10:30 AM funeral service, conducted by Rev. Lyle P. Hinkle, visitation Pastor of the Ontario United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Manfield Memorial Park.
