Robert Harold Giesige
Robert Harold Giesige, age 76, of 23 Jayne Avenue, Shelby, died Sunday, September 16, 2001, at his home after an extended illness.
He was born June 11, 1925 in New Bavaria, Ohio the son of the late Urban A. and Emma (Thome) Giesige. Mr. Giesige was a 35 year employee of Yellow Freight Systems Inc. He was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Shelby Knights of Columbus Council #1968, Shelby Eagles Club, Local 40 Teamsters Retiree Club, and Ohio Good Sam Club Chapter 46 Fun Center Sams. Bob Enjoyed his family and camping and traveling. He was an Air Force veteran of WWII.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Florence (Reber) Giesige whom he wed on June 7, 1947; 3 daughters and 2 sons-in-law: Kathleen A. Ball of Shelby; Patricia L. and Sam Grove of Mansfield; Carol M. and Dennis Lasker of Geneva, IL; 2 sons and daughters-in-law: Robert G. and Nancy Giesige and Mark J. and Candy Giesige all of Shelby; 6 grandchildren: Cory Schuck, Shawn Welch, Christine Giesige, Jennifer Giesige, Jill Giesige, Nikki Welch; 2 great-grandsons: Alex and Izak Giesige; a sister, Mary Reber of Willard; a sister-in-law, Ann Giesige of Ottawa, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Leonard Giesige.
Calling hours will be on Tuesday, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street in Shelby. A Christian wake service will be held on Tuesday at 8 PM at the funeral home. Mass of Chrisian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:30 AM at Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Church with Father Nicholas Cunningham officiating. Burial will be in Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Cemetery with full military honors by the Joint Veterans Council. Memorial expressions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio.
