Robert E. Wetz

Robert E. Wetz, age 65, of 276 South Gamble Street, died Monday morning in the Crestwood Care Center after an exteneded illness. He was born November 27, 1925 in Shelby, the son of Fausten and Hazel (Cotter) Wetz.
Mr. Wetz retired in 1988 from the Shelby Insurance Company as managing underwriter. Prior to that he was employed at Shelby Pure Milk Company. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church where he was a past member of the church council. He was a Navy veteran of WWII and a member of the Shelby Jaycees, Shelby Lion’s Club, Shelby American Legion #326, Shelby Masonic Lodge #350 F. and A.M., Shelby Chapter #178 R.A.M., Shelby Shrine Club, Al Koran Temple in Cleveland & Eastern Star Rizpah Chapter #153.
Mr. Wetz is survived by his wife, Eileen (Ruhl) Wetz, whom he married on April 16, 1949; 2 daughters and son-in-laws: Linda and Shim LaGoy of Carmel, California, and Karen and Rick Cooke of Ashland; 4 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 2 brothers: Donald Wetz and Dwight Wetz both of Shelby.
He was preceded in death by 1 brother Kenneth Wetz.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the Turner Funeral Home and Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral at the First Lutheran Church in Shelby, with his pastor the Rev. Dr. Carl L. Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby.
Masonic services will be conducted at 8:30 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
