Richard D. Walsh, Sr.

Richard D. Walsh, Sr., age 60, of 3215 Redbird Lane, Shelby, died at 10:00 P.M. Saturday in Mansfield General Hospital after an extended illness. He was born January 14, 1927 in Auburn, New York, the son of Maurice B. and Julia E. (Nugent) Walsh.

Mr. Walsh is survived by his wife, Rita B. (Tretter) Walsh, whom he married on April 7, 1951; 3 sons: Richard Walsh, Jr of Pineville, LA, Maurice “Maury” Walsh of Columbus, and Dave
Walsh of Mansfield; 3 daughters: Mrs. Diane Bortner of Codorus, PA, Mrs. Regina Viers of Niles, Ohio, and Nora Walsh at home; 10 grandchildren; 1 brother, Thomas Walsh of Dubuque, Iowa; 1 sister, Mary Ann Housenger of Kissimmee, FL.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by 2 brothers.

Mr. Walsh was an electrical engineer at A.M.F. for 34 years. He held three U.S. Patents. He was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church and was an Army veteran of WWII.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 11:00am at the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church with his nephew, the Rev. Gregory Faulhaber, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home. A Christian Wake service will be held at 8:30 with the rosary immediately following.

Memorial expressions may be made to the Kidney Foundation and left at the funeral home.
