Rex Davis

Rex Davis, age 85, of 4635 stentz Road, Shelby died unexpectedly Sunday morning at his home.

He was born February 28, 1909 in Salem, WV, the son of Franklin and Cora (Orrahood) Davis.

Mr. Davis was a retired employee of the Ohio Steel Tube Company and was a farmer. Prior to moving to Shelby, he was employed by the West Virginia Dept. of Agriculture. He was a member of the Blacklick Baptist Church in Salem, WV and was an Army veteran of WWII serving in the China Burma India Theatre.

Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Wilma H. (Furbee) Davis, whom he married on September 14, 1935; 2 sons, Ross Alan Davis of Parkersburg, WV and Rex Edward Davis of Austinburg, Ohio; 4 daughters and sons-in-law: Rebecca and George Davis of Ravenswood, WV, Patricia and Alex Malov of Brecksville, Sandra and James Robinson of Salem, WV, and Belinda and Kevin Kamann of Plymouth; 14 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 sister and 2 brothers-in-law: May and John McCarter of Mansfield and Roger Grove of Shelby; 1 sister-in-law: Garnett Davis of Mansfield.

He was preceded in death by 1 sister, June Grove; a brother, Vance Davis and a grandson, George Davis, III.

Calling hours will be on Tuesday fram 7-9 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby and also one hour prior to the funeral services which will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. Paul E. Perry, pastor of St. Francis Xavier Church in Willard, officiating. Burial will be in Mansfield Memorial Park. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Joint Veterans Council.

Memorial expressions may be made to the American Lung Association and left in care of the funeral home.
