Phyllis E. (Moon) Gwinner
Phyllis E. Gwinner, age 83, formerly of 403 South Gamble Street, Shelby, died Sunday, September 12, 2004, after a long illness, surrounded by her family, at the Heritage Care Center in Shelby.
Phyllis was born April 13, 1921 in Shelby. She was a 1939 graduate of Shelby High School and sold Stanley Home Products for many years. She was also a former employee of Browns Flower Shop in Shelby, The Petal Shop and O’Neils, both in the Richland Mall. She was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Shelby where she had been a CCD teacher. Phyllis was a former member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club, Kingwood Center Guild, and had been a 4-H advisor for many years. She enjoyed flower arranging, horses, gardening and loved being around children.
She is survived by 2 sons, Terry (Gwen) Gwinner of Willard, Fr. David Gwinner of Danville, OH; 2 daughters, Cheryl (Dwight) Hawk of Shelby and Denise (Charles) Welch of Crestline; 12 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Sarah Reeder of Shiloh, Joyce Rinehart of Shelby; sister-in-law, Shirley Moon of Ashland. She was preceded in death by her father, Reuben Moon, her stepfather, Augustus Anderson, her mother, Jessie (McGlaughlin) Moon Anderson, a sister, Alice Adams, and a brother, Burton Moon.
Calling hours will not be observed. Friends are invited to attend the funeral mass which will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Bethlehem with Father Nick Cunningham, Father Richard Snoke and her son, Father David Gwinner officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Memorial expressions may be made to St. Mary School in Shelby or Hospice of North Central Ohio.
