Pauline E. (Rhine) Pettit
Pauline E. Pettit, age 89, of 56 Mack Avenue, Shelby, died Monday morning at her home after an extended illness. She was born July 12, 1904 in Plymouth, Ohio, the daughter of Huff Snyder and Keturah (Ehrenfeld) Rhine.
Mrs. Pettit retired from the Shelby Telephone Company where she worked as a telephone operator. Prior to that she worked at the Plymouth Telephone Company. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Shelby and AARP.
Mrs. Pettit is survived by 1 step-daughter, Bertha Wood of Shelby; 1 step-grandaughter, Lolita Bukowski of Garfield Heights, Ohio; 1 brother, Robert Rhine of Plymouth; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willard A. Pettit in 1985; by 2 sisters: Beulah Hollenbaugh and Martha Jane Rhine; and by 3 brothers: James Rhine, Charles Rhine, and Clarence Rhine.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby, where funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1:00 P.M. with her pastor Rev. Dr. Carl L. Johnson, officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Plymouth, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shelby Public Health League and left in care of the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby.
