Paul F. “Pete” Stroup

Paul F. “Pete” Stroup, age 70, of 3002 Taylortown Road, Shelby, died unexpectedly Monday afternoon at Shelby Memorial Hospital after suffering an apparent heart attack at home. He was born July 22, 1922 in Jackson Township, Richland County, Ohio, the son of Fred and Harriett C. (Yarman) Stroup.

Mr. Stroup retired in 1984 from Shelby U-Forma after 38 years of service. He currently was a Jackson Township Trustee, a post he has held for the past 15 years. He was an Army veteran of WWII and was a member of the Shelby American Legion O’Brien Post #326, where he was past commander. He was a member of AARP and was a 1941 graduate of Shelby High School.

Mr. Stroup is survived by his wife, Margaret A. (Wasson) Stroup, whom he married on February 16,1946; 1 son, Jon Stroup at home; 6 daughters and 4 sons-in-law: Annette Lantz, Beverly and Rick Johnston, Janet Ridley, and Paula and Joe Yosick all of Shelby; Sue and Larry Colangelo of Mansfield, and Lori and Rob Hall of Shiloh; 12 grandchildren; 1 sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Chuck Boyce of Conyers, Georgia; 1 sister-in-law, Jeanne Stroup of Shelby.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and by one brother, Norman Stroup.

Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby, where funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Steven L. Schag, Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Shelby, officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby.

Memorial expressions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association and left in care of the Turner Funeral Home.
