Paul A. Seidel

Paul A. Seidel, age 79, of Shelby, died Thursday March 6, 2008 at MedCentralShelbyHospital following a short illness.

He was born September 22, 1928 in Elyria, OH, the son of the late Clarence and Mildred (Bistline) Seidel. He was a graduate of North Fairfield High School and is a veteran of the United States Navy. Paul kept himself very busy and always had two jobs. He retired from Peabody Barnes after 20 years as a service manager. With this job, he traveled extensively in the United States and South America. Prior to that, he worked at the Sewage Treatment Plant for the City of Shelby, Friebel and Hartman, and Brown’s Electric. He did electrical work and wired many Shelby homes. Paul was a member of First United Methodist Church and enjoyed wood carving, hunting, turkey shoots and fishing. He had a boat at Lake Erie for years and was a participant in many walleye tournaments.

On February 22, 1952, Paul married Janice L. Silliman, and she survives. Also surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jo and Jim Stepp, of Shelby; a son, Rodney Seidel, of Ogdon, UT; 3 step grandchildren; 5 step great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Ruth Seidel, of Norwalk; 2 sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary Lou Graham, of Akron, and Patricia and Eugene Kamann, of Willard; and his faithful canine companion Penny. He was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers-in-law, Margaret and Gary Milliron and David Graham.

Friends may call on Sunday March 9, 2008 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will be held on Monday at 10AM with Rev. Gail Angel officiating. Burial will follow in North Fairfield Cemetery with military services provided by the North Fairfield American Legion. Memorial contributions can be made to the First United Methodist Church and Richland County Humane Society.
