Opal Marie (Smith) Griffith

Opal Marie Griffith, age 84, formerly of Myer Meadows Apartments in Shelby, died early Wednesday morning in the Woodlawn Nursing Home in Mansfield after and extended illness.

She was born March 25, 1910 in Monroe County, Ohio the daughter of Ardell and Georgia (Henderson) Smith.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Brookwood Way Church Of Christ in Mansfield, where she was active with Keenagers and the Ladies Bible Study Group. She enjoyed flowers and gardening as well as paper tole picture making.

She is survived by 3 granddaughters, Judy and Robert Klink of Dover, Delaware,
Gayle and Roger Davidson of Powell, Ohio and Cheryl Griffith of Blacklick, Ohio; 1 daughter-in-law, Lee Ann Griffith of Inverness, Florida; a former daughter-in-law, Orene Oakley of Mansfield; 4 great grandchildren;

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert A. Griffith on February 2, 1990; 1 son Wilbert Ardell “Rocky” Griffith on February 12, 1993; and by 2 brothers, Paul and Charles Smith and 2 sisters, Lola Cronin and Hazel Johns.

Calling hours will be on Friday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby, where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. with Minister Coy Siddall officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Brookwood Way Church of Christ and left in care of the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby.
