Opal Margaret (Gates) Krocka

Opal Margaret Krocka, age 80, OF 38 Glenwood Drive, Shelby died unexpectedly Monday, December 22, 1997 at her home.

She was born May 30, 1917 in Shelby the daughter of Ross and Nellie (Wolf) Gates. Mrs. Krocka was a homemaker and a graduate of Shelby High School. She was an active member of the First Lutheran Church in Shelby where she was a member of the Miriam Circle. She was a member of the Mansfield Womens Club, the 97th Club, A.A.R.P., and the Shelby Country Club. She delivered Meals on Wheels and was a FISH phone volunteer. Mrs. Krocka enjoyed playing golf and was an avid card player.

Mrs. Krocka is survived by 1 daughter and son-in-law, Linda and James Miller of Shelby; 2 granddaughters, Kile Baker of Columbus and Kari Baker of Shelby; 2 sisters, Evelyn Gates of Chino Valley, Arizona and Alice M. Will of Shelby. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred E. Krocka on July 10, 1992.

Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 5 – 8 P.M. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby and also from 9:30 – 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at the First Lutheran Church. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. at the First Lutheran Church with Rev. June Fryman and Father John Jorden officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby. Memorial expressions may be made to the church or to FISH.
