Okey F. Griffith

Okey F. Griffith, age 85, of 90 Glenwood Drive, Shelby, died Tuesday, January 21, 1997 in the Crestwood Care Center after an extended illness. He was born July 25, 1911 in Woodsfield, Ohio the son of James and Della (Gessel) Griffith.

Mr. Griffith retired in 1970 from the Westinghouse Corporation in Mansfield after 39 years of service. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Shelby and enjoyed making grandfather clocks.

He is survived by his wife, Edith (Jeffers) Griffith whom he married on June 9, 1934; 1 son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Marilyn Griffith of Houston, Texas; 1 son-in-law, Gary Martin of Galion; 5 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 1 brother and sister -in-law, Lester and Pat Griffith of Shelby.

Mr. Griffith was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Martin; a granddaughter, Vicky Schumacher; a brother, Wilbert Griffith; and a sister Vera Schwall.

Calling hours will be on Thursday from noon until the time of the funeral service which will be held at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Craig Jones, his pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby.
