Norman Joseph Gwirtz

Norman Joseph Gwirtz, 63, of 5100 St. Rt. 598, Crestline died Saturday, April 4, 1998, at his home after an extended illness. He was born March 17, 1935 in Shelby.

Mr. Gwirtz was a former employee of American Tower Co. He was a member of the First Church of God and the Shelby Owls. He was a social member of VFW George Broderick Post 291 and the Shelby American Legion O’Brien Post 326 and was an avid golfer.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth E. Neumann Cramer Gwirtz, whom he married July 12, 1969; 3 sons and 2 daughters-in-law, Michael and Christine Cramer of Galion, Larry and Sheryl Cramer of Shelby and Steven Cramer of Ashland; 6 grandchildren; 1 son-in-law, Timothy Lewis of Shelby; 3 brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Georgia Gwirtz , Richard and Madeline Gwirtz, and Donald and Shirley Gwirtz all of Shelby; and his mother, Estella Gwirtz of Shelby. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Gwirtz; 1 daughter, Kathy Lewis; and 1 son, James Cramer.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, April 7, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 W. Main St., Shelby. The funeral will be Wednesday, April 8, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Church of God with Rev. Tim E. Schrock officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Shelby. Memorial contributions can be made to the family to help with medical expenses.
