Nora Elizabeth “Betty” (Pease) Hughes
Nora Elizabeth “Betty” Hughes, age 81, of 67 Third Street, Shelby, died Saturday, August 22, 1998 at the Heritage Care Center in Shelby after a short illness.
She was born January 19, 1917 in Conneaut, Ohio . She was a graduate of Alhambra High School in Pasadena, Calif. and attended U.C.L.A. She was an employee of the A.M.F. in Shelby and was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Shelby, Shelby Y Community Center, and Weight Watchers. She loved family get togethers and enjoyed playing cards and reading.
Mrs. Hughes is survived by her husband of 61 years, James L. Hughes, whom she wed on August 24, 1937;; two sons and two daughters-in-law, James P. and Jean Ann Hughes of Upper Sandusky and Daniel J. and Emily Hughes of Shelby; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Linda Cauulfield of Buffalo, N..Y., Mary and Greg Dodge of Shelby, Ellen and Mike Kirkpatrick of Reynoldsburg, and Rose Hughes of Liima; 13 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Vance Pease of California.
She was preceded in death by her father Charles Pease, her mother Mae Cochran Bode, her step-father Adolph Bodee and a son-in-law, Richard Caulfield.
Calling hours will be on Monday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. June Fryman officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby. Memorial expressions may be made to the First Lutheran Church Day Care Program.
