Neil E. Fairchild

Neil E. Fairchild, age 55, of Taylortown Road, Shelby, died early this morning at his home after suffering an apparent heart attack. He was born on January 17, 1933 in Bellville Ohio, the son of Charles and Zelphia (Craft) Fairchild.

Mr. Fairchild is survived by his wife, Rose Marie (Frontz) Fairchild, whom he married on June 16, 1951; 1 son, Keith Fairchild of Shelby and 1 daughter, Mrs. Bruce (Cynthia) Friebel of Shelby; 6 grandchildren; 3 brothers: John and Bill Fairchild of Shelby and George Fairchild of Galion; 1 sister Mrs. Billy (Willa) Bail of Shelby. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother.

Mr. Fairchild was the Golf Course Superintendent for 34 years at the Shelby Country Club. He was a member of the Golf Course Superintendent Association of America, Central Ohio Golf Course Superintendents’ Association and Ohio Turf Grass Foundation. He was a member of Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Council #1968, the Shelby Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #763, The Shelby Owls Club, and was a social member of the Shiloh American Legion.

Mass of the Ressurection will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 A.M. at the Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Gregory Bishop officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 8:30 P.M. Sunday at the Funeral Home.
