Ned E. Payne
Ned E. Payne, age 72, of 60 Plum Avenue, died Sunday evening in Heartland Of Bucyrus Care Center after an extened illness. He was born April 8, 1918 in Shelby, the son of George and Lillian (Roth) Payne.
Mr. Payne was a mail carrier for 30 years in Shelby. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where he served as an usher. He was an Army veteran of WWII and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of A.A.R.P., O’Brien Post #326 Shelby American Legion, and Veterans Of The Battle Of The Bulge.
Mr. Payne is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Klein) Payne, whom he married on May 29, 1940; 2 sons and daughter-in- law: Roger and Mary Ann Payne and Bob and Sue Ann Payne all of Shelby; 5 grandchildren; 4 brothers: Edwin Payne, Walter Payne and Herbert Payne, all of Shelby, and
John Payne of Rocky River, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, and 5 brothers.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 3-5 and 7-9 P.M at the Turner Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at the Trinity United Methodist Church with his pastor the Rev. J. Malcolm Brook officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church and left in care of the funeral home.
