Morgan T. Stewart, Sr.

Morgan T. Stewart, Sr., age 88, of 53 Vernon Road, Shelby died early this morning in the Crestwood Care Center after an extended illness. He was born May 28, 1901 in Clearfield, KY, the son of Morgan T. and Mary J. (McClurg) Stewart.

Mr. Stewart is a retired employee of the Ohio Steel Tube Corp. in Shelby. He was a charter member of the Taylortown Community Church.

Mr. Stewart is survived by his wife, Mottie (McClain) Jones Stewart, whom he married on October 23, 1944; 1 son, Morgan T. Stewart, III of Shelby; 4 daughters: Mrs. Mary Smith and Mrs. Winford (Dorothy) Barber both of Mansfield, Mrs. Corlena Haskins of Detroit, MI, and Mrs. Harold (Alberta) Burks of Shelby; 14 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; 1 stepdaughter, Rozella Burns of Oklahoma City, Oaklahoma; 1 step son, Bill Jones of Muncie, Indiana; 2 brothers: William Stewart of Shelby, and James Stewart of Florida; 1 sister, Ethel Crager of Clearfield, KY.

He was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 4 sisters.

Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Turner Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at the Taylortown Community Church with his pastor the Rev. Dr. Edward N. Beck, officiating. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m.
at the Stewart Cemetery in Rowan County, KY. Calling hours will be held one hour prior to the graveside at the Northcutt and Son Funeral Home in Morehead, Kentucky.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Taylortown Community Church and left at the Turner Funeral Home.
