Minnie Louise (Powell) Dow

Minnie Louise Dow, 76, of Heritage Care Center and former resident of Crestline, died Friday morning in Shelby Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.

She was born Aug. 2, 1908 in Fairmont, WV and was preceded in death by her parents, John and Sophia (Griffeth) Powell and husband Marion F. Dow in 1983.

She was a member of First English Lutheran Church, Crestline and graduated from Mt. Sinai Hospital School of Nursing in 1929. She worked as a registerd nurse 17 years and was a member of the Ohio Registered Nurses Association.

She is survived by two daughters: Mrs. James (Helen) Eckenrode of Shelby and Mrs.
Susan Goodwyn of Cleveland; one brother: Maurice “Bud” Powell of Cambridge; four sisters: Mrs. Eugene (Virginia) Glass of Mentor; Mrs. John (Marjorie) Rodgers of New Philadelphia; Mrs. Bernice Foraker of Canton; and Mrs. Loretta Perkins of Byesville; and three grandchildren.

A grandson, Marion Donald Eckenrode, also preceded her in death.

Calling hours will be 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Turner Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Rev. John Dyer officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.
