Milton Ross Eckstein

Ross Eckstein, age 59, of 6521 Johnston Road, New Washington, died Saturday afternoon at his home as a result of a farming accident. He was born March 14, 1931 in Vernon Township, Crawford County, Ohio the son of Emery and Ethel (Magers) Eckstein.

Mr. Eckstein was a farmer. He was a member of Crouse Memorial Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tiro where he served on church council, had been the Sunday School Superintendent and played on the church dart ball team. Mr. Eckstein was a 1949 graduate of Tiro High School and was a member of the Tiro-Auburn Volunteer Fire Department where he was a first responder with the E.M.T. He had been a Cranberry Township trustee for a number of years and belonged to the Farm Bureau.

Mr. Eckstein is survived by his wife, Betty (Bevier) Eckstein, whom he married on April 9, 1949; 5 daughters: Mrs. Darl (Pat) Keen of Shelby; Peggy Jenkins of Galion; Mrs. Bernard (Pam) Greene of Lawton, Oaklahoma; Mrs. Scott (Penny) Reeve of Mt. Gilead; and Mrs. Doug (Paula) Newlove of Tiffin; 7 grandchildren; 1 sister: Mrs. Paul (Mabel) Wilson of Shelby; 1 brother: Harmon Eckstein of Crestline. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. at Crouse Memorial Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tiro, with his pasor the Rev. Christa von Zychlin officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Tiro. Calling hours will be today from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby.

Memorial expressions may be made to the Crouse Memorial Evangelical Lutheran Church or the Tiro-Auburn Volunteer Fire Department and left in care of the funeral home.
