Milo H. “Mike” Melick
Milo “Mike” Melick, age 77, formerly of Shelby, died Wednesday morning at Heartland Of Bucyrus after a short illness. He was born September 7, 1911, in Shelby, the son of Willard and Dora (Tucker) Melick.
Mr. Melick was a former employee of the Shelby Cycle Company and Plumbrook in Sandusky. He was also a former Richland County Sheriff’s deputy and retired from the Shelby Senior High School as a custodian. He was a graduate of Shelby High School in the class of 1929. He was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Shelby.
Mr. Melick is survived by 2 daughters: Mrs. William (Leola) Fisher of Shelby, and Janet Swartz and her friend Kenneth Whited of Bucyrus; 1 son: William and Arlene Meek of Shelby; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters: Alice Gundrum of Florida and Fern Allen of Pennsylvania.
He was preceded in death by his wife, LaDonna (Miller) Melick in 1985; and by 1 granddaughter, Kay Swartz in 1984.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 1:00 P.M. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby, with his pastor the Rev. John J. Bradley, officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby. Calling hours will be held today from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the Turner Funeral Home. Memorial expressions may be made to the First United Church of Christ and left at the funeral home.
