Mildred M. Roberts

Mildred M. Roberts, age 82, of 566 S. Gamble St., Shelby, died Thursday, March 6, 2003 at the Crestwood Care Center after an extended illness.

She was born April 12, 1920 in Shelby, the daughter of the late Carl and Blanche E. (Wertz) Haverfield. Mrs. Roberts was a graduate of Shelby High School and retired from Shelby City Schools where she had been a secretary for many years. She was a member of the First Christian Church.

Mildred is survived by her husband, Woodrow C. Roberts, whom she wed on September 17, 1941; 3 sons and spouses, Denny and Sharon Roberts of Greenwich, Dave and Cindy Roberts of Shelby and Duane and Lisa Roberts of Shelby; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Evelyn O’Hearn of Mansfield and Betty Holloman of Shelby. She was preceded in death by her parents, and 2 brothers, Charles and Lauren Haverfield.

Private graveside services were held on Saturday, March 8, 2003 at Oakland Cemetery in Shelby. Memorial expressions may be made to the American Heart Association. The Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, assisted the family with funeral arrangements.
