Mildred G. (Guiney) Lewis

Mildred G, Lewis, age 95, formerly of 103 Park Village, Shelby, died Friday, November 19, 1999 at the Mifflin Care Center in Mansfield.

She was born December 5, 1903 in Homestead, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Robert J. and Annie (Acheson) Guiney. Mrs. Lewis was a 1925 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, where she recieved a B.S. in Education. She also did graduate work at Miami University. She taught English and French in Munhall, PA, and Piqua, OH, where she retired in 1973 after 14 years of service.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Shelby, where she belonged to Circle 2, and was a former member of Grace Methodist Church in Piqua for 45 years, where she was a member of the Morning Star Circle.

Mrs. Lewis is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mimi and Ron Thompson of Shelby; 3 grandsons and spouse: Michael and Amy Thompson of Shiloh, Gregory Thompson of Lakewood, OH, and Bradley Thompson of Shelby; 2 great grandchildren: Meagan Hirschy and Hallie Thompson both of Shiloh; 2 sisters: Grace Morgan and Bernice Kuhn.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Lewis in 1957, and by 3 brothers, and 1 sister.

There will be no calling hours. Burial will be in Jefferson Memorial Park in Pittsburg, PA. Memorial expressions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1605 County Road 1095, Ashland, OH. The familly has chosen the Turner Funeral Home to assist them with funeral arrangements.
