Mildred Florence (Cramer) Burger
Mildred Florence Burger, age 90, of Park Village, Shelby, died unexpectedly, Tuesday, September 19, 2006 at Med Central Shelby Hospital.
Mildred was born September 10, 1916 in North Auburn, Ohio. She attended Mothers of Sorrows School at North Auburn and was a 1934 graduate of New Washington High School. She completed business courses at Marion Business College. Mildred married Edward Joseph Burger on October 25, 1941. Her husband was a farmer and they resided on a farm near Tiro.
She was an office worker at North Central Electric Company in Attica. She also worked at the Agricultural Conservation Program in Bucyrus. Following the death of her husband in 1963, she assisted at the rectory at both Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in North Auburn and St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in New Washington for 15 years keeping house. She was a member of Mother of Sorrows Parish for many years before moving to Shelby in 1992. She was currently a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Shelby, the Rosary Altar Society at Mother of Sorrows and at Most Pure Heart of Mary, AARP, Catholic Ladies of Columbia, St. Ann’s Society, St. Francis Auxiliary in Tiffin and Crawford County Genealogical Society. Family genealogy was a hobby as well as vegetable gardening, sewing, reading, cooking, and baking. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was loved by all.
She is survived by 4 daughters: Sharon and Gerald Snyder of Swanton, Ohio, Jean and Edward Daniels of Point Roberts, Washington, Carolyn and Lee Kaple of Shelby, Mary Ann and Dick Clady of Shelby; 1 son: Thomas and Sharon Burger of Delta, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; a sister: Gertrude Pittinger of Knoxville, Tenn.; a sister-in-law: Mary Powell of New Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony M. and Verona (Bechtel) Cramer, her husband, Edward J. Burger, a daughter, Ruth Ann Burger in 1951, an infant son, a sister and brother-in-law, Robert and Adele Darrah, 2 brothers-in-law, Francis Powell and Dr. Charles Pittinger.
Friends may call on Friday, September 22, 2006 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby where the rosary will be conducted at 7:45 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 AM at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Father Nick Cunningham officiating. Burial will be in Mother of Sorrows Cemetery in North Auburn. Memorial expressions may be made to Mother of Sorrows Church.
