Mildred A. (Wasserman) Garvin

Mildred A. Garvin, age 97, formerly of 154 West Main Street, Shelby, died Wednesday morning in the Maria Joseph Living Care Center in Dayton. She was born June 25, 1897 in Fremont, Ohio the daughter of Amandus and Anna (Schmittuz) Wasserman.

Mrs. Garvin was a homemaker and a former employee of Wilkins Air Force Depot in Shelby. She was a member of Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Church.

Mrs. Garvin is survived by 1 son and daughter-in-law, Fred and June Garvin of Poplar Grove, Ill.; 5 daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Max Van Tilburg of Salinas, California, Jean and John Zoltai of Elrito, New Mexico, Audrey and James Crone of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, Peg and Ron Smith of Lancaster, Ohio and Elaine and Herman Santo of Dayton, Ohio; 18 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Revella Siefferlin of Dayton, Modesta Bruggeman of Dayton and Severna Hunt of Mira Mona, California.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred J. Garvin in 1968, and by 5 brothers and 2 sisters.

Calling hours will be on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby where a Christian wake service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Church in Shelby with Father Herb Weber, pastor of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Mansfield, officiating. Burial will be in Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Cemetery in Shelby.
