Michael William Durkin
Michael William Durkin, age 58, of 90 Mansfield Avenue, Shelby, died Friday, April 30, 1999 at the St. Francis Health Care Center in Greensprings, Ohio where he had been a resident since an automobile accident in 1992.
Mr. Durkin was born August 16, 1940 in Shelby the son of Clarence W. and Anne (Teglovic) Durkin, both now deceased. He had been an employee of Copperweld Shelby Division and was an Army vereran serving in Germany from 1959-1962. He was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church and Shelby American Legion O’Brien Post #326. Mike had been a Little League umpire for many years and had been an avid fisherman and golfer.
He is survived by his wife, Paula (Valk) Durkin, whom he married on October 5, 1963; a son and daughter-in-law: Andrew and Linda Durkin of Shelby; a daughter: Melissa Durkin of Tiffin; 3 grandchilren: Ashley Wheeler of Tiffin; Katherine Durkin and Kristen Durkin both of Shelby; a brother and sister-in-law: Timothy and Mary Durkin of Shelby; 3 sisters; a special nephew, Greg Durkin of Columbus.
Calling hours will be on Sunday, from 1-6 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street in Shelby. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Church in Shelby. Burial will be in Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Cemetery in Shelby. Memorial expressions may be made to St. Francis Health Care Center and left in care of the funeral home.
