Mervin Alton Tomlinson
Mervin A. Tomlinson, age 89, of 22 Bradley Avenue, Shelby, died Monday, January 7, 2002 at his home after an extended illness.
He was born April 26, 1912 in Shenandoah, Ohio, the son of the late Warren Leroy “Roy” and Lauretta Esther (Baker) Tomlinson. Mr. Tomlinson was a 1930 graduate of Shelby High School, having worked at the Shelby Equity Exchange and the Shelby Gum Company. He was a carpenter for Stacy Haun Builders from 1945-1977 having built his family home in 1955. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Shelby Masonic Blue Lodge #350 F and AM, Shelby Chapter #178 RAM, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Canton, MRP, and was past president of Auburn School PTA.
Mr. Tomlinson is survived by his wife of 62 years, Eileen (Dick) Tomlinson, whom he wed on October 18, 1939; a son and daughter-in-law, Dick L. and Debra Tomlinson; a grandaughter,
Shirley C. Tomlinson; a grandson, Adam W. Riddlebaugh; sister -in-law, Donna Dick; a nephew, Greg Dick all of Shelby, and a niece, Linda Kapcar of Strongsville.
He was preceded in death by 2 daughters: Lonna Dee Riddlebaugh in 1983 and Beth Marie Tomlinson in 1949; and a brother, Donald Lewis Tomlinson.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday, January 9, 2002, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where Masonic services will be conducted at 7:45PM. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Carl G. Beighley officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby.
