Melvin R. Stough
Melvin R. Stough, age 79, of 73 Auburn Avenue, Shelby, died Monday evening, June 17, 2002 at the Woodlawn Nursing Home in Mansfield.
He was born November 20, 1922 in Shelby, the son of the late Milton R. and Lena (Brinkerhoff) Stough. Mr. Stough was a 1940 graduate of Shelby High School and was an Army veteran of WWII serving in the 475th Military Police Escort Guard. He retired from the Shelby Salesbook Company after 46 years of service. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and American Legion O’Brien Post #326 in Shelby. He was an avid golfer.
Mr. Stough is survived by 3 daughters: Pamela Jacobs of Shelby, Rebecca Kiser of Columbus, and Susan Price of New Miami, OH; 5 grandchildren: Russell Jacobs, Angela McAtee, Ryan Kiser, Michael Price, and Jeffery Price; 2 great granddaughters: Megan Kiser and Alexandra McAtee.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Jean (Briner) Stough in 2001; a son, David Stough in 1947; and a sister, Marian Welsh in 1989.
Calling hours will be on Thursday, June 20, 2002 from 10-11 AM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, at 11 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Jeff Matthews officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Shelby American Legion. Memorial expressions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
